THE 2015 Virtuoso Luxe report, compiled by an international network of luxury travel agents, has named river cruising as the number one travel trend.

 Nor is surprised that the Virtuoso report has named Croatia, and the natural beauty of its  Dalmatian coastline, as top emerging destination.

Croatia, and her photogenic walled city of Dubrovnik, already feature on major cruise line itineraries as do Iceland, Cuba and Myanmar which are also listed in the report as emerging destinations.

Second top travel trend in the 2015 report is multi-generational travel (grandparents, their children, and the grandchildren all take a holiday together). This trend has already seen a huge growth in cruise bookings, as has active adventure trips which are well covered by an expanding fleet of expedition cruise ships.

Virtuoso’s annual report offers insight into the patterns and decisions of the world’s wealthiest travellers, and reveals a continuing love affair with Italy, which remains as the top international destination. France, Mexico, South Africa, and Australia are other countries listed as sought after destinations in the report.

Named as the most popular honeymoon destinations are Italy, Maui (Hawaii), Tahiti (French Polynesia), France, and the Maldives which already feature high on cruise ship schedules.

Travel advisors from Virtuoso member agencies in 25 countries – from North America to Latin America, the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and the Caribbean –  all had input to the 2015 report,
